Portugal isn’t just a destination to me; it’s a feeling I carry with me. If I’m not in Portugal, I’m planning my next trip. The Portuguese call it Saudade. (A deep, emotional longing for something or someone you love and miss.)

My love for Portugal began in 2023 while traveling to São Miguel, Azores to experience the birthplace of my paternal Great Grandparents. (São Miguel is the biggest island in the Portuguese Azores archipelago located in the Atlantic ocean.) I instantly fell in love with its natural beauty, volcanic landscapes, natural thermal pools, its stunning architecture and the vibrant, welcoming culture.

In the Algarve, I was captivated by the dramatic coastlines, sun-drenched beaches that rival the Caribbean, the incredible seafood and the genuine warmth of the Portuguese people.

The Alentejo region is captivating and spectacular. The Alentejo region is know for it’s slow paced lifestyle, open landscapes, ancient whitewashed hilltop villages, ancient cork forests, olive groves, centuries-old vineyards and Michelin-starred restaurants. It is the rural heart of Portugal. Alentejo is where you want to go to reconnect with the simple, authentic beauty of life.

Porto and the Douro Valley are completely captivating. Porto’s beautiful azulejo (blue tile) covered churches, rich history, and vibrant, unassuming charm of Porto. I recommend sipping Port at a quaint cafe overlooking the Douro, getting lost in the steep winding cobblestone streets, watching the sun setting on the Dom Luís I bridge while enjoying a Francesinha sandwich and Porto Spritz.

In the Douro Valley, fall in love with the terraced vineyards plunging into the winding Douro river, the quaint family owned wineries and local flavors. Simply put: You will go for the wine, but you will want to stay for the soul of the valley.

In Central Portugal, get lost in the magic of the region between the Serra da Estrela mountains and the silver coast. Explore Aveiro (the “Venice of Portugal”), medieval Óbidos, the sounds of Coimbra’s fado, and the simple perfection of Natas and other regional treats. Experience the wines of the Bairrada region in intimate tastings paired with local delicacies. Maybe enjoy a meal of succulent pig while sipping Baga with Mr Baga himself, winemaker Luis Pato. Priceless!

In Lisbon, lose yourself in the spectacular views, steep winding cobblestone streets of Alfama, vintage yellow trams, pastel-painted and tiled buildings, the soulful Fado music, amazing comfort food, Ginja and fabulous wine. You’ll fall in love with this sunny, seven-hilled wonder.

Portugal—a land of slow mornings, history, incredible food & wine endless pastéis de nata, and the haunting beauty of Fado music. There’s something magical about a place that forces you to slow down, savor a glass of wine or port, and embrace the warmth of its people. Do you find yourself dreaming of a Portuguese escape?

Let me help you discover the magic of Portugal. Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or an adventure with friends, I am committed to providing a personalized and exceptional wine travel and food adventures.
