Hello wine and travel friends,
We find ourselves surrounded by the Holiday hub-bub. Pumpkin spice. Sugar cookies. Christmas carols. Black Friday sales. As we
all hit the stores and web, searching for the perfect gifts for our loved ones, I’d like to give you some food for thought.
Why not give the gift of travel?
There are many physical and mental health benefits of traveling. Here are a few of my favorites.
-Improved Physical Health
When we are on vacation, we tend to be more physically active. Being more physically active can lead to better sleep and reduced risk of heart disease. We are exposed to other environments which boosts our immune system.
-Improved Emotional Health.
Traveling or even just thinking about traveling has been shown to reduced stress and improves mood. Traveling gets us out of the day-to-day routine and offers an opportunity for a mental Re-set. Traveling offers improved sense of relaxation and rejuvenation.
-Improved Brain Health.
Learning about new cultures or languages are exercises for the brain. Traveling improves resilience and problem solving skills.
-Improved Sense of Connection. Exploring other cultures leads to increased sense of global connection and empathy. When traveling with family, friends or fellow travelers, the shared experience of travel can lead to a stronger connection with your loved ones and shared memories that will last a lifetime.
Traveling offers many more benefits than the few physical, emotional and cognitive benefits I’ve shared here. Traveling opens our heart and mind to new experiences and endless possibilities. Most importantly, traveling offers the opportunity to develop a deeper connection to our world and the people that we love.
Giving the gift of travel, my friends, is truly a gift that keeps on giving. And that is Priceless.
